The Elephant Speaks
One Man’s Elephant book II

Forsaken

Have you ever felt forsaken?

Think of your worst time. The time when you were at your absolute lowest.

Your loss, your despair, your grief, is so great that you may even collapse to the floor.

There are no options left for you.

Even God seems to be unaware of your despair.

My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?

But,

Not as forsaken as Jesus.

You are here. You did live through it.

Not as forsaken as Jesus.

Picture yourself on the cross.

All of your so-called friends and companions have forsaken you

When hanging on a cross, it becomes impossible to breathe.

You know that death is unavoidable and imminent.

You have only minutes, maybe only seconds to live.

There are no options left. You have to fight for each breath.

You can only say the first line of your prayer out loud.

A prayer you have known for years.

“My God, My God, Why have you deserted me?”

The rest of Psalm 22 runs through your mind.

It is a Prayer of Hope and Faith in desperate times.

Hope and Faith - even now, - even here, - God is with you.

At a time when all else fails, you have only Hope and Faith. And God is with you as you pray.

Read Psalm 22 for your own Hope.
