Military Ethics

My son, Lester, as a cadet at the United States Merchant Marine Academy had to live up to a high ethics code. He took it seriously. He was outraged and disappointed when anyone else did not. Actually all the U.S. Academies have similar standards. Cadets who violate this code will lose their position. This code should apply to everyone, including those who do not attend such an institution.

This code should be written on your heart. It should be a part of everything you do. We are all under the same law of God.

In the military, a violation of the ethics code results in an unpleasant consequence. There are many stories about an officer losing his position, his rank, his respect, his career. This is part of the package. This is what you should expect if you take that position. This is military justice.
